Class Logistics

We will follow current local Covid-19 requirements regarding indoor meetings.

Stay Home If Sick!
  • If you or someone in your household is ill with COVID-type symptoms, do NOT attend class.
  • Please call me as soon as possible to let me know you need to cancel.

Location: Indoor

Our indoors locations is at a private condo on the far west side of Madison (841 N. High Point Rd., Madison WI 53717).
  • Masks are required for indoor classes. This may changed based on the Dane County Health Department recommendations.
  • Vaccination is strongly encouraged for all participants.
  • In addition to the furnace's air filter, we have a portable HEPA air filter in the room.

Location: Outdoor

Our outdoors meetings are at a park on the far west side of Madison (Walnut Grove Park, 202 N. Westfield Rd., Madison WI 53717).

Note: The park does not have bathroom facilities.
  • Please bring your own quad/folding chairs.
  • For outdoor classes, masks are NOT required.

  • Participants should maintain proper social distancing at all times, including arriving/departing class. We will place our chairs so there is 6 feet spacing between couples.

  • Please dress for the weather! Bring coats/blankets if it's cold; bring water if it's hot.
  • Class will be cancelled/rescheduled if:
    • Weather is predicted to be over 90 °F during class time.
    • Weather is predicted to be rainy.
    • It’s raining as of 2 hours before class.​

Lori DuRussel, M.S., is an adoptive mom and has worked in the adoption field for 19 years.  She was the Education and Outreach Coordinator for a child placement agency and designed the current curriculum to meet the Wisconsin State requirements.  She believes that families come in all shapes and sizes, and she is excited to help new parents navigate the adoption maze.  Lori has a master's degree in educational psychology (cognitive science), with a focus on adult education and learning.

Her main responsibility for the last 20 years has been as mom to her four children (two adopted internationally, two born into her family).  By far this is the most challenging, sometimes frustrating, and gratifying job that she's ever held.  She is honored to be able to share her experiences with new families through the parent education that she does.
